3 : INSTALLING INSERTS
Prewinder Type FASTMAN Inserting Tool aligns and precompresses
the insert for easy installation. A slotted mandrel in the

4 : REMOVING INSERT TANGS
The tang on a FASTMAN Insert should be removed after installation
only when necessary for screw clearance or product appearance,
and in such cases notched inserts should be used. The tang
breaking operation is accomplished by placing the punch of
the Tang Break-off Tool into the installed insert and resting
tool squarely in the insert tang. The top of the tool is then
struck by a hammer, using a sharp blow to remove the tang.

5 : EXTRACTING
INSERTS
Improperly fitted inserts needs to be removed. In such cases
FASTMAN Extracting Tools are used. The sharp blade of the
Tool bites into the top coil after being hit with a hammer.
By applying pressure on the tool and rotating counterclockwise
the insert is taken out of the tapped hole.
